October 26th will be the day we do our part for breast cancer awareness. We will wear as much pink as possible on the 26th to show our support for breast cancer victims and survivors like Mrs. Spiller. Color your hair, paint your nails and pull out those old pink jeans to support the cause. It will cost $2 to wear as much pink as possible to support breast cancer awareness. Any sayings that are on your clothes or bracelets must be school appropriate.

• October 26th will be the day we do our part for breast cancer awareness. Our hero, Mrs. Spiller, is a breast cancer survivor and we will wear as much pink as possible on the 26th. • We are PTEC. What does that mean to you? To me, PTEC is a group of people who are hardworking with good character coming together to teach others, help others, to grow and learn. The kid on your left and the kid on your right may be going through or have gone through things that you can’t even imagine. What you say and do to them matters. Why choose to say and do mean and hurtful things when you can choose to help, support, and guide them. What you say and do does matter. Do good!

• If you are a PTEC student that purchased a PTEC sweatshirt or hat, be sure to put your name on your clothes so if you take it off, a kid with the same item will know it isn’t theirs because your name is on it. Almost every student at PTEC owns safety goggles, ear protection, tape measures, hammers, and other tools. Please put your name on your items because when you set it down in random places or they fall out of your locker or bag, we can get them back to you. I have a Stanley 25’ tape measure in my office that was left on the floor downstairs a few weeks ago and no one has claimed it.

• Students, parent teacher conferences are on October 18 and 19. You are required to attend with you parent or guardian if a time is scheduled for you.
• You may not enjoy doing homework but it is part of your job as a student. Homework is designed to reinforce what the teacher taught that day in class and not doing it is a weakness in character. Did you know that if you did not pass a class you will have to take it again next year? Your friends will move on to a new subject or even an entirely new grade and you will be left doing the same thing again next year. If you don’t like it this year, you will hate it next year. If you don’t want to have to do the same thing two or more years in a row, participate in class, do the work, and build up your character again. We ask you to have respect for those around you all the time but you also need to have self-respect and help yourself into your future. We believe in you, all you have to do is believe in yourself and if it gets hard, ask for support.
• Students, you are not to be writing and or drawing on your arms. Teachers please watch for this and stop students from putting graffiti on their bodies. Also, let’s talk about dress code. You should be in proper dress from the time you enter the building until you leave the building. Proper dress code means you are in proper pants, shirt tucked in, belt on and no hoodie worn. Hats are only to be warn in shop class.
• The next PTEC Connect isn’t until October 22 but remember to wear your PTEC polo and tan pants.
• Are you still dreaming about your future? I need big dreams with a childlike innocence. Be creative, inspiring, and unique.
• The mission of PTEC is to prepare students to enter the workforce with the skills necessary to be successful in a trade while also having the character and work ethic to become the most valuable members in their chosen trade. • There is a fundraiser at Chipotle on Tuesday. Talk to your parents. Talk to your grandparents and ask them all to buy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert from Chipotle on October 9th from 4 to 8 pm. Let’s raise money for seniors. Every year we will work on raising money for that years senior class, so be the first to support the first graduating class of PTEC.
• Did you know that respect is not earned but given? People can lose the respect of others, but they can also earn it back. Make the choice to be respectful to your teachers, classmates, and parents. Speaking of better choices, students have you turned in your homework? Did you fill in your planner and make sure your teacher stamped it? Are you prepared for class? Do you only speak when called upon? If you answered yes to all of these questions then you are well on your way to being a great student. If you answered no, then I ask you to begin working on them and ensure that you too will become a great student.
• Mac Flynt… happy birthday from your friends.
• Students, today, next week and the week after there will be no district lunch. If you didn’t bring a lunch today or order the fundraiser lunch there is no food for you. Come down next passing period to call home and see if they can bring you a lunch.
• Flip your planner three pages and write in PTEC Connect on 10/22. The next PTEC Connect isn’t until October 22 but remember to wear your PTEC polo and tan pants. That schedule will be a normal schedule with everyone starting in their first period class.

Also, the full list of all of the approved clubs is posted on the board outside of the PE room. Remember, you may not start a club until the form is returned and then approved.
• Earlier in the week I let you all know that people who don’t make dreams for the future end up with low self-esteem and generally do not accomplish as much in life as people who dream big and plan for their future. I am asking you today, what are some of your dreams? Where do you see yourself in 5 years, in 10 years, in 20 years? Now ask yourself, how will you make that happen? This is the time to start planning. Dreams don’t come true if you don’t work at it.
• The mission of PTEC is to prepare students to enter the workforce with the skills necessary to be successful in a trade while also having the character and work ethic to become the most valuable members in their chosen trade. Remember, this doesn’t happen overnight. You must form the proper habits today to ensure your future success. Be positive and you will have a positive experience.

PTEC Daily Announcements 10-3-2018
• There is a fundraiser at Chipotle next week. Talk to your parents. Talk to your grandparents. Talk to your cousins, mother, brother and tell them all to buy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert from Chipotle on October 9th from 4 to 8 pm. Let’s raise money for seniors. Every year we will work on raising money for that year’s senior class, so be the first to support the first graduating class of PTEC.
• It has come to my attention that many students do not realize that when a teacher requires silence in the classroom, that statement means all forms of sound. If you ask a classmate for a piece of paper, not only are you not prepared for class, but you are talking. If you ask a classmate what page you are on and they respond, you both are talking. If you yawn loudly, not only is that rude, but you are distracting the class. Did you know that if you are talking softly or whispering, that is still talking? When a classmate blurts out some comment and you respond, you both are talking. When teachers ask for silence, they mean no sound. If you raise your hand that does not mean you get to start talking, that means you wait to be called on. Only raise your hand with a question that pertains to the moment. If you feel singled out by your teacher, then stay silent all the time and you will not get in trouble.
• Tomorrow’s spirit week theme is “Guild Colors.” John Herrup and Tyler Lewis will be collecting money and stamping hands tomorrow. Tomorrow’s theme is school pride so where your black and red. Tomorrow is decorate a door day. I will put up the names of the guilds over doors so everyone can see what door they will be decorating. You will be given time before school and after school on Thursday to decorate your guild assigned door. You should be planning with your guild what you would like the doors to look like.
• Spirit Week is designed to get all of us excited about school even when some people don’t like school. This is a building that every child has to pass through and what you do here matters. The way to help yourself is to make the best of it and change negative thoughts to positive ones. Take pride in your school and don’t leave it a mess. You are to clean up after yourself in the shop, the classroom, so how about you take a second and keep the halls clean too. Pick up the trash, hang up a jacket, and put empty packs on hooks.
• The mission of PTEC is to prepare students to enter the workforce with the skills necessary to be successful in a trade while also having the character and work ethic to become the most valuable members in their chosen trade. • Did you know that people who are able to keep alive the childlike approach to life, especially the ability to dream, have much better self-esteem and generally accomplish more than those who were told not to dream so big. The fear of disappointment has become for some worse than the disappointment itself. Yet failed attempts are so much better than no attempt at all. Having dreams for your life exercises a muscle of the inner person that will pay off sooner or later. (Bill Johnson) A childlike approach to life doesn’t mean staying a goofball or being disrespectful to those around you, it means knowing that all things are possible. You are more imaginative, more creative, and more innovative. I ask all of you, teachers and students alike… dream big.
• The mission of PTEC is to prepare students to enter the workforce with the skills necessary to be successful in a trade while also having the character and work ethic to become the most valuable members in their chosen trade. Wednesday’s theme day is “Western Wednesday.” Thursday’s theme is “Guild Colors” and Friday will be a free day and that is school pride so wear your black and red.
• Just a reminder students, we are all PTEC. This building has to last so future generations can come to school here. We need you to take pride in the building and not destroy it. If you see someone doing something they shouldn’t, it is up to us all to say something. If you see coats on the floor, hang them on a hook. If you see trash on the floor, pick it up and throw it away. It is your job to be a good student in the classroom as well as the halls. Remember only you can prevent vandalism, dirty floors, disrespectful behavior, and of course, forest fires.

If you check your phone during passing period leave it in your locker or bag. Do not take it to class.

• Teachers please remember to check and stamp planners. Students you may respectfully remind your teachers to check and stamp planners.
• Our character tip for today is simply this, be good. Being rude, disrespectful, and disruptive in class is not okay. It isn’t your place to comment on things that classmates say. Think, if what you are doing to someone else, like your teachers or friends was done to you, would you feel respected or disrespected because of it? If you would feel disrespected then you aren’t being good. I say to you, be good.
• I need to put out a bolo. Be on the lookout for a pineapple lanyard. It has two keys on it. If you have seen it or know where it is please take it to the front office or tell the front office where it is.
