Shauna Riley
Chemistry/AP Chemistry/Lead Science Teacher
Mrs. Shauna Riley joined the James Irwin family as a Chemistry teacher in the fall of 2017. She taught General Chemistry and Advanced Placement Chemistry years before deciding to take a season off to stay home with her new baby. During her time away, she remained connected to the James Irwin family and continue teaching as a substitute . Mrs. Riley is also a member of the United States Air Force Reserve where she is currently the Dean of Academics at the 42d Combat Training Squadron. There she teaches military members how to be effective instructors as well as various electronic warfare courses. Mrs. Riley returned as the Lead Chemistry in 2022 and is thrilled to be back.
Mrs. Riley grew up in Washington State and has lived all over the United States due to her time in the military. Colorado Springs has been home since 2008. She enjoys being a mom of three wonderful children and supporting them in their MANY extracurricular activities. She also loves learning. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in Chemistry, an MBA in Technology Management, and is currently working on her Master’s in Chemistry. Mrs. Riley credits her husband with pushing her to follow her heart and become a high school teacher. Thanks to him and the many inspiring examples of great leadership and passionate mentors, Mrs. Riley has been able to pursue her love of teaching and is supported in continuing in her professional development. She is excited to see what the future holds for her, her family, and her students.
