Dawn Hamilton
6th Grade
Mrs. Hamilton joined JICS in 2005. She was originally hired to teach at the elementary school but was asked last minute to teach 6th grade to fulfill a need there. She took that leap and hasn’t looked back since! She began as an Instructional Assistant in 2006 and soon came to realize that she loved this school. It was then Mrs. Hamilton decided that she needed to go back to school to finish her degree so she could have her own classroom. She did just that, getting her degree from Western Governors University, and the rest is history. She has taught all 6th grade subjects except History. Several years ago, the 6th grade teachers were able to transition from homerooms and teaching all subjects to specializing in one or two. That is where Mrs. Hamilton found her niche. She teaches Math, Remedial Math, and Remedial Writing. She believes in the mission statement of this school and looks forward to a long career teaching at JICMS.
