It’s been an exciting year for JI athletics this year as we’re experiencing our best year for team sports as a whole in the history of JI.
Our boys’ soccer team finished with a 10-4-2 record and advanced to the 3A state playoffs.
Our cheer squad was league champion for the 8th year in a row and qualified for nationals next month!
Our varsity girls’ volleyball team finished with an 18-7 record (11-1 in the Tri Peaks league and the only league team to beat CSCS, the league champion due to a tiebreaker) and lost a close match at Regionals just falling short of the 3A state tournament. Senior Bree Noel was recognized as the Peak Performer of the Week during the season.
Our varsity boys’ basketball currently has a 12-2 record (6-1 in the Tri Peaks league.) Matthew Lebron, sophomore, has also been recognized by the Gazette as their Peak Performer of the Week recently, and both Matthew and senior Malik Willis on in the top 10 in the entire state in a couple stat categories (Matthew is #5 in scoring at 25.2 pts/game and Malik is #10 in assists) and Roman Burnside is #27 in the state in rebounding. The have 4 home games left and a possible home playoff game in the 4A state tournament depending on how the season finishes. I’d like to invite you all out to any of our remaining home games and remind you that you and your family get in free with your JI ID.
