Advanced Placement (AP) classes give students the chance to tackle college-level work while they're still in high school and earn college credit and placement.
In the spring of 2024, 88 JICHS students took 166 AP exams covering 12 different subjects.
The AP Program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on multiple AP Exams. The scores are ranked 1-5 with 3 considered passing and 5 being the highest score.
11 JICHS students received a 3 or higher on THREE OR MORE AP exams. (AP Scholars)
4 JICHS students received an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken AND scored 3 or higher on FOUR OR MORE of these exams. (AP Scholar with Honor)
7 JICHS students received an average score of 3.5 on all AP exams taken AND scored of 3 or higher on FIVE OR MORE of these exams. (AP Scholar with Distinction)
The most impressive scores were AP World History:Modern and English Lit. The AP World History students didn't even take the AP course. Dr. Forrest worked with her students on writing and studying for the test, and they all decided to take it! (94% passed!) An extraordinary 91% of Mrs. Brueggeman’s English Lit students passed their exam.
Other teachers whose classes scored above the national averages:
* Mr. Ashmore - Macroeconomics (83% passed)
* Mr. Jones – Calculus BC (80% passed)
* Mrs. Brueggeman – Psychology (77% passed)
* Ms. Garcia – English Language (67% passed)
Congratulations to all these students and teachers for tremendous results. We are so proud of you!
