Parents of the James Irwin Charter Schools,

Thank you for your trust and confidence in partnering with your Board of Directors in the important work we do to in school governance and providing opportunities for our students to grow and thrive in their educational pursuits. Our goal has always been to continuously challenge and develop our staff and students. We take great pride in planning and resourcing improvements to our entire network so that our students continue to receive the quality education and opportunities that led you to choose our schools for your family.

In order to help us accomplish this important work, we are conducting a search to fill open board seats for the 2024- 2025 Board of Directors. We are a seven-member Board of the 501(c)3 Nonprofit and have responsibility for the fiscal oversight and adherence to the mission and vision of the James Irwin Charter Schools network that consists of six schools on four campuses.

As many of you know, JICS has consistently been selected by the community as having the best elementary school, middle school, high school, and technical school in El Paso County. Many of our faculty and staff have also been repeatedly recognized as “Best of the Springs.”

If you are interested in being a part of the work we do to make JICS the best public charter school network in the area, please send a letter of intent addressed to the President of the Board through Derek Ware, the office manager, either in person or via email at: derek.ware@jamesirwin.org. We believe a board should be diverse with members bringing varying skillsets and areas of expertise; therefore, we welcome all interested parties to apply. We are especially interested in bringing aboard professionals with corporate knowledge within academia; professionals with skills in business development or organizational management; and professionals with financial backgrounds.

We would like to seat the new board members during the January meeting and invite potential candidates to participate in ongoing efforts to become more familiar with our proceedings and processes. You are encouraged to attend board meetings and working sessions before being seated. The deadline for submitting your intent is Friday, October 25th at 4:00 PM. All candidates will be contacted by a current board member and provided with information briefings and scheduled for an interview where there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Thank you for your consideration of this request and your support of the James Irwin Charter School Network.
